Our room is elegant. It's in what was once the cow barn, but now it's fitted out with ultra-modern features and the latest in German-engineered bathroom fixtures.
For Karin, the inn has lots of memories going back to her early childhood when she came here with her grandfather. Her pointing out places she'd mentioned in the audio history we did together makes the trip here all that richer for Bob and me.

Karin's House |
Today, we went into Marburg. First stop was a visit to her mother's grave. While we were there, a strange man and woman appeared, and to our astonishment, Karin gave them big hugs. They were her brother and his wife, whom we had expected to meet later in the day. Then we walked in town to see the 500-year-old house where Karin and her brother, Volker, grew up and the medieval castle at the top of the hill. Volker, being a historian, gave us detailed accounts of the sights including obscure facts and dates. He's a wonderful (and funny) guide.
